My Story

A photo of Juliana Gedney

Up until my 30's I was perpetually exhausted and managed to catch any illness that entered my orbit. GP tests were always fine, but I felt lethargic and not quite right most of the time. It's fair to say my health and wellbeing reflected my effort on nutrition and lifestyle - plenty of junk food, crash diets and definitely no exercise!

Then motherhood happened and I learned that my oldest son had autism. Being a massive geek, I researched all I could to learn how I could support my beautiful boy. I was amazed to learn how nutrition could have such a big impact on his autism symptoms, and the health and wellbeing of the rest of my family. It seems really obvious to me now, but back then "you are what you eat" (also you feel what you eat), hadn't resonated with me.

It wasn't straight forward though. The volume of information was overwhelming and often conflicting, or quick fix solutions that were too extreme to stick to. But I now loved this subject and knew I wanted to help others with their own health challenges.

Changes to my own diet and lifestyle completely transformed my health. I stopped feeling lethargic and run down. Instead I was motivated, had enough energy and was very rarely sick. I developed an appreciation (sometimes love - it depends on which day you ask!) for the gym, and even started taking part in events. I have sprint triathlons, and various distance runs including marathon under my belt. I am currently training for Hyrox. My old PE teachers would spit their tea out at this - I was not sporty at school!

Like any other recreational athlete, my research led me to how I can make the most of my time training, and of course nutrition is an essential part of this. I absolutely love working with clients who are at varying stages of their fitness journey and are keen to use nutrition as part of this. Also clients, who may look fit and strong, but have underlying health issues that need support.

My clients get to experience how nutrition not only makes reaching their training goals so much easier, but also how this extends to their everyday health and wellbeing. This way new habits to last a lifetime are created.

I am always happy to have a chat, to hear your story and discuss how nutritional therapy could help you. If you would like to know more, let's talk.
