About Me
I Know What It's Like to Feel "Off" When Everything Looks Fine on Paper
For years, I assumed being tired was just... normal. That catching every cold going around was just bad luck. That my inability to concentrate was just how my brain worked (or didn't).
But the reality was I ate what I wanted, and lots of it. Not all junk, but definitely not balanced or particularly healthy either. Exercise? Really not my thing.
I just didn't think any of that stuff really mattered.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s thinking that if I got ill in the future, there'd be a pill to fix it. Looking after my health just wasn't something that crossed my mind. Until I couldn't ignore it anymore.
The turning point wasn't a single lightbulb moment - It was more subtle. Noticing I hadn't been ill in nearly a year, when previously I'd go from one bug to the next. Realising that exhaustion and brain fog wasn't my baseline anymore. Understanding that when I did feel tired, it was a sign I'd not been eating properly or managing my sleep and stress.
The "oh yeah... that doesn't happen anymore" moments kept stacking up until I realised I actually trusted my body again. And that my actions could really support my health.
I'd learned how to listen to the feedback my body had been trying to give me all along.
So What Changed?
When my eldest was diagnosed with autism, I became absolutely determined to understand how nutrition could support his cognitive development and wellbeing.
What started as research for him became a complete shift in how I understood health - how food affects focus, mood, energy, memory, and overall wellbeing.
I realised that what I'd accepted as "normal" for myself wasn't normal at all.
This journey led me to retrain at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. But I'd already been learning by living it - managing my own ADHD symptoms, supporting neurodivergent children, and experiencing firsthand what happens when you give your brain and body the support they actually need.
Even now, my journey continues. What worked brilliantly in my 30s suddenly didn't in my 40s. Perimenopause meant my brain health required a completely different approach. A personal reminder that the one perfect protocol doesn't really exist. It needs to adapt as life changes.
This is the experience and understanding I bring to my work with clients.
Is This Right for You?
Whether you're noticing changes in your focus or memory, feeling frustrated that test results say you're "fine" when you know something feels off, or wanting to support your cognitive health proactively, you need someone who gets it.
Not just the theory, but personally.
Someone who understands:
-
The frustration of being dismissed when you know your body is trying to tell you something
-
The determination that comes with wanting better for yourself and your family
-
The relief of finally finding approaches that actually make sense for your body
-
What it takes to make sustainable changes when your brain works differently
I don't just hand you a plan and wave you off. I stay with you until things make sense, adjusting, exploring, and working it out together. My support is realistic, practical, and determined. You won't be rushed or brushed off here.
My Approach: Working Out What's Really Happening
I don't offer generic meal plans or one-size-fits-all protocols. Instead, we explore all the factors that may be influencing your cognitive wellbeing:
-
How to support a healthy inflammatory response and immune health
-
Blood sugar patterns that may be linked with changes in energy and focus
-
Aspects of digestive health that may influence mood and mental clarity
-
Possible nutrient imbalances and whether they may be relevant for you
-
The impact of your lifestyle on stress, sleep, and hormones
You'll get strategies tailored to your life, your symptoms, and your goals - explained in plain English.
And because I've navigated this journey myself (and continue to), I understand what it really takes to implement changes when life is busy, when your brain resists routine, or when you need flexibility rather than rigid rules.
Most importantly, I make change feel manageable. Through a behaviour-led process that's simple, engaging, and designed for how real brains work. So you'll actually want to make the changes, not just know you should.
What Working Together Looks Like
You'll have a clear, evidence-based path forward that makes sense for your life, whether you're working alongside medical care or taking a proactive approach to brain health.
You'll work with someone who's grounded in functional medicine principles but speaks like a real human. Someone who takes your concerns seriously and is genuinely invested in helping you find solutions.
You'll feel heard, supported, and finally on a path that makes sense. Because you deserve more than being told "everything's fine" when you can't help but worry it's not.
You deserve to feel clearer, more focused, and more like yourself again.
But even better, supporting your brain health often has positive effects on how you feel overall - your energy, your mood, your ability to keep up with life's demands.
